Supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths have joined forces to help the community of Townsville. 

Townsville has been inundated with flood waters and both food retailers sent in truckloads of groceries to refill stripped shelves at Woolworths Stores.

A barge with 300 tonnes of food, nappies, baby formula and other essentials items has been sent in my Woolies.

CEO Brad Banducci says “everyone has responded magnificently” to the disaster.

“It really does bring out the best in humanity, so been a real team effort,” he tells Ross Greenwood.

But he admits “we’re not out of the woods by a long stretch”.
