‘Strange’, ‘wonderful’: Students and teachers react to classroom return

Article image for ‘Strange’, ‘wonderful’: Students and teachers react to classroom return

Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and 12 have returned to the classroom today as part of a staged return.

Willoughby Girls High School and HSC pupil Anjali D’Cunha told Jim Wilson it was a “strange” adjustment to no longer have family members barging in on online lessons and study.

“It gave me a little burst of motivation, and it was just so exciting to see everyone again.

“There’s definitely a whole lot more … smiles than we usually see on Zoom.”

Northern Beaches kindergarten teacher Meryn Kay told Jim it was “a wonderful day”, relieved to be able to speak to her students face-to-face.

“It’s been really tricky teaching kindergarten remotely … [they] need a lot of support.”
