An Electric Scooter Working Group is being set up by Transport for NSW to look into a possible trial for electric scooters in Sydney.

Under NSW road rules, e-scooters can only be used on private property because they’re not registered vehicles.

A trial was meant to launch in January, last month Roads Minister Melinda Pavey announced it was on hold.

Today, Lime scooters launched a campaign asking people to lobby the state government to start a trial.

Director of Government Affairs and Strategy at Lime Mitchell Price says the group “is a step in the right direction”.

“Hopefully we can get around the table and get this process moving.”
