The Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup dream is still alive, after a 1-1 draw with Denmark.

The Danes scored first thanks to a brilliant strike by Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

The world-number-12 Scandinavians took control for the first 20 minutes of the match before the tide started to turn.

A Video Assistant Referee (VAR) handball decision in the 38th minute handed Australia a penalty with captain Mile Jedinak converting for the second time in as many games.

The Socceroos dominated for much of the match but couldn’t find a second goal.

19-year-old Daniel Arzani was brought on, immediately sparking life into Australia’s attack, but it wasn’t enough.

The only negative out of the game was a serious shoulder injury to forward Andrew Nabbout, who is likely to miss the rest of the tournament.

While there are many possibilities depending on the number of goals scored, Australia must defeat Peru and needs France to defeat Denmark to progress to the Round of 16.
