Australia’s peak cycling body is calling for cyclists to be paid to ride to work.

Under the scheme, every rider would be given $5 each time they use their bike in their daily commute.

Anthea Hargreaves, General Manager of Public Affairs at the Bicycle Network, says it would help ease congestion on our roads and overcrowding on public transport.

“This is all about making it easier and more attractive to get people out of their cars and onto an active form of public transport like riding your bike.

“By incentivising bike riding not only the individuals save money, but we know that entire communities benefit.”
