Shocking: 103-year-old DVA assistance scaled back

Ben Fordham Exclusive

A 103-year-old war veteran has had her assistance scaled back from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

There are currently more than 60,000 veterans waiting to have their claims heard by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Joy served in the Army Signals during WWII.

Every day she’s had someone come to her home for half an hour to prepare her meals, but in March she received a letter from DVA advising her assistance was being brought back.

Joy’s daughter Rae told Ben Fordham that because her mother lived on the South Coast there is now no longer someone available to help her on the weekends.

The family is now out of pocket and are having to pay for someone to help Joy on the weekends.

Rae is asking Veterans Affairs Minister Matt Keogh to “look into the services”.

“They really need help,” she said.
