Shock revelations of zero biosecurity checks amid foot and mouth outbreak

Jim Wilson has revealed a complete lack of checks and biosecurity measures at the border in the wake of Bali’s foot and mouth disease outbreak. 

2GB listeners who arrived in Sydney from Bali this morning told Jim there was no mention of the disease on the Indonesian end.

Passengers were given a one page document about the disease during the flight that according to the listeners, many people discarded.

Upon arrival and transit through customs, the listeners went through with no bag checks, sniffer dogs or enhanced biosecurity measures.

“[The passengers] ticked all the boxes on their arrivals quarantine card that declared they were in the clear, collected their bags at the carousel and waked out,” Jim said.

Jim has implored the Agriculture Minister Murray Watt to take action as soon as possible.

“Just make it happen for goodness sake!” he said
