Shane Watson has spoken to Alan Jones just hours after smashing an unbeaten century to win the Indian Premier League title.

The 36-year-old belted 117 runs off just 57 balls as Chennai chased down Hyderabad’s total with nine balls and eight wickets in hand.

Watson has been battling injury over recent weeks and tells Alan he needed to hit boundaries to avoid running.

“My body’s been struggling the last week or so – my hamstring, the calves and that.

“It got to a stage where that was the easiest way to keep going.”

He managed just that, with 92 of his 117 runs coming from boundaries.

Shane thanked his great friend for being there for him throughout a long and successful career.

“I’ve got to thank you for always, for always… your support has been incredible Alan and tonight was a good night, that’s for sure.”

Shane also comments on the rebuild of the Australian Test team and tells Alan whether he’ll join suspended Australian captain Steve Smith in the Canadian T20 competition.
