Searching for an answer: What happened to William?

Article image for Searching for an answer: What happened to William?

It’s hoped a renewed search may finally lead to missing boy William Tyrrell being found.

Hundreds of police offers have descended on the New South Wales town of Kendall, where the boy was last seen.

Police say “new evidence” has prompted the search, and they are looking at a person of interest.

Channel 10 investigative journalist Lia Harris has been reporting on William’s disappearance since the day he went missing.

She produced the podcast Where’s William Tyrrell? and has conducted extensive interviews with people closely connected with the case.

Lia spoke to Luke Grant about the recent developments in the search, and the way they have played out in the public through the media.

She says the original investigation was extremely thorough, and is hopeful the new search will find a resolution.

But she says it’s important not to lose sight of the distress those close to William are experiencing.

“What needs to be remembered here is that there’s a little boy who’s still missing,” she said.

“I think that’s what everyone needs to remain focused on.”
