RSL members angry over misuse of funds
President of NSW RSL, James Brown, says the organisation has “work to do” following revelations funds were misused.
A report reveals former president of NSW RSL Don Rowe, spent $460,000 on a corporate credit card over five years and allowed his son to stay rent-free in RSL owned accommodation in Sydney’s CBD.
Mr Brown tells Ben Fordham his members are rightfully furious.
“This whole thing has been tragic and makes my members angry and makes the public rightly angry too. This was use of money that should have gone to help veterans and their families.
“This is 10 years where the organisation lost its way out of a century of a service to veterans and their families and we’ve got work to do.
“There were whispers and rumours and I think a lot of our members knew something was wrong and they didn’t have the information they needed to point the finger.
“I think the police now have a roadmap that they need to take action against him if it’s warranted.”
