Road toll rises over the weekend in NSW
The long weekend road toll has risen to seven following the deaths of another three people.
On Friday, three pedestrians were killed in separate incidents. An 80-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were struck in Western Sydney as well as an 83-year-old in the Southern tablelands.
On Saturday, a 10 year old boy lost his life after a car veered off the road in the Hunter and crashed into a tree.
Three other individuals also were killed yesterday.
A 22-year-old man has killed when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree north-east of Albury.
Emergency services were also called to the Mitchell Highway at Geurie after reports of a two-vehicle crash.
A 69-year-old woman died at the scene and the 69-year-old male passenger in the same vehicle was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital with serious injuries.
The 71-year-old female driver of the second vehicle was also flown to the same hospital.
And at about 3.20pm yesterday emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on the King’s Highway near Bungendore.
One driver died at the scene and the second driver was trapped in the vehicle but has now been taken to the local hospital.
Officers from Monaro Police District have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
Double demerits are in force until midnight.
