Ray Hadley has ripped into “the dumbest idea ever seen in the history of NSW Parliament”.

The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers want footwear and wetsuits to be mandatory for rock fishing in New South Wales.

Ray revealed the shadow cabinet supported the idea which Shadow Minister for Police Walt Secord then backed in parliament.

“This proposal from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party and now Labor, is the dumbest idea,” Ray said.

“I guess they believe when a rock fisherman drowns in a wetsuit at least he’ll be warm!

“You may as well give them a 6ft board and say ‘go surfing while you’re out there’.”

Ray is encouraging Labor leader Chris Minns to make it mandatory for all rock fishermen to wear lifejackets instead.

“Lifejackets save lives.”
