Ben Fordham has confronted Anthony Albanese over the demonisation of coal amid rising power prices.

Treasury is urging the government to directly intervene in the gas and coal market to lower prices.

Anthony Albanese insists the shift from gas and coal in Australia is because “the market has spoken”.

Ben Fordham: “But isn’t it about the investment from the government going into renewables and that’s why the coal and gas industries haven’t received the same support?”

Anthony Albanese: “No, it’s not Ben, not it’s not. And I think that in your heart of hearts you know it’s not either.”

Ben Fordham: “In my heart of hearts I’m saying exactly what I believe.”
