Security will be ramped up to ensure the public’s safety on New Year’s Eve as massive crowds are expected around Sydney Harbour.

Security expert, Peter Moroney, tells Chris Kenny the public should remain alert.

“I get asked all the time, ‘can you prevent [an attack]?’ I don’t think you can, no matter what you do.

“If you do see something, inform the police. A lot of people don’t want to do that, but inform the police and let them know.”

Peter says if you’re going out on New Year’s Eve, make sure you have a plan.

“In simple terms, have a plan and communicate the plan with the people you’re going with.”
