Four children have been found safe and well after being abducted from a property in North Queensland.

Police issued an amber alert after four children – aged three, four, seven and eight – were taken from a property in The Leap north of Mackay at about 11.30am yesterday.

28-year-old Joshua Carter, a caucasian man with a shaved head and a bushy beard, was seen with them and is yet to be found.

Carter also has multiple face and body tattoos – including Joker-themed facial tattoos.

Nine Reporter Jess Millward told Ben Fordham he was known to the children.

“The exact relationship isn’t being revealed by police as of yet.”

Queensland Police Inspector Regan Drahm told Ben there is a chance they may have travelled into another state.

“We are considering that … but we are concentrating our searches as much as we can on known areas.”
