Police rule out random attack in Central Coast baseball bat homicide

A 30-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 70-year-old Allen Lambert, whom he allegedly fatally injured with a baseball bat.

Tuggerah Lakes Police Command Acting Superintendent Alan Janson told Jim Wilson Mr Lambert was at his home in Chittaway Bay with his wife and granddaughter on Tuesday night when the home invasion took place.

“It’s sort of bizarre to see that happen … in the modern day.

“We’ve ruled out a random attack.

“Why it was targeted, that’s what we’re trying to establish … we just don’t know the background to that at this stage.”
