NSW Police Minister David Elliott has joined the Premier and Police Commissioner in supporting the placement of special drug disposal bins outside music festivals.

The amnesty bins would be provided outside festival gates to allow revellers to throw away their pills before reaching sniffer dogs.

Recently, 10 people were treated for a suspected drug overdose at Sydney’s Festival X as supporters of pill testing argue it is urgently required.

Mr Elliott tells Ben Fordham the idea of amnesty bins could save lives.

“We need to do anything that will take drugs out of kids’ hands and away from their mouths.

“If this is just one of the many options police have available to them then it could be worthwhile.”
