Woolies boss demonstrates what not to do in the spotlight

Clinton Maynard

A story about price gouging was never going to be pretty for Australia’s two supermarket giants but Woolworths CEO, Brad Banducci, has demonstrated to leaders everywhere just what arrogance under pressure looks like.

Mike is joined by Dr Neryl East, expert on communication, credibility & reputation, who says whenever a leader communicates about a difficult issue – whether it’s in the boardroom, to an employee, or on camera – going in angry will never cut it.

It’s essential to leave the combative attitude behind and be human.

Dr East says leaders who are outstanding communicators are genuine rather than defensive; in the face of tough questions, they’re able to explain their position calmly.

“Spitting the dummy and walking away is a killer for trust and credibility”.
