What is the recommended age to teach your child to swim?

As we know, swimming is a huge part of a child’s life, especially in Australia.

Swimming lessons for children are an important aspect for parents as there are unfortunate realities that can happen in the water.

Statistics have revealed that children may not be suited for swimming due to lack of supervision, and a lack of knowledge around general swimming habits.

Learning the fundamental skills in the water can aid children when learning to swim, so when is the right time to send your child into the deep end and learn to float and swim on their own?

Lecturer for injury prevention Dr Amy Peden from the University of New South Wales talks to John Stanley, about the importance of water etiquette.
