Timber industry stresses importance of planting new trees

Australia is importing enough timber to build 40,000 homes a year, despite a record harvest last year.

ABARES figures have revelled 33 million cubic metres were harvested in 2016-17, with wood product exports increasing by 11 percent.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield caught up with Forest Products Association Chief Executive Ross Hampton.
