The Mazda CX-30 G20 Touring SUV – packed with features for $34,990.

Motor Torque

More on Mazda’s relatively new CX-30 SUV today – sitting between the CX-3 and mid-sized CX-5  the CX-30 answers the lack of boot space in the CX-3 being 120mm longer overall and 30mm wider. 13 models, all six-speed automatic, and a choice of 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre engines and front or all-wheel-drive. I drove the mid-spec 2.0-litre G20 Touring front wheel drive at 34,990, not inexpensive but nicely equipped for the money with an excellent level of driver assist technology, comfort, safety and convenience items. However, I recommend you pay a small premium, another $1,500, and buy the more powerful 2.5-litre G25 Touring front wheel drive at $36,490 – with a better blend of performance and drive-ability.

This new Mazda is a good looker from any angle, not as bob tailed as the smaller CX-3 with a much better load space. Equipment includes seven airbags, stability and traction controls, leather seat trim, driver attention detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, a reversing camera, dual-zone air, forward and rear autonomous emergency braking, tyre pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors and LED Headlights. Build quality first class backed by a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and annual fixed price service costs of $327/year for the first five years. The Mazda CX-30 is the perfect packaged sized SUV for a small family or for retirees who need an elevated seating position for ease of access.
