The Daily Telegraph’s worthy “Think and Drive” Campaign
A few weeks back I spoke about how driving was a serious business deserving concentration and an awareness of what’s around us. So top marks yesterday for the Daily Telegraph announcing its safety-first Think and Drive Campaign – aimed at drawing awareness to drivers who simply lack concentration behind the wheel – many are aware of the heavy penalties for texting and mobile phone use but there’s also a tendency by many to eat behind the wheel, comb their hair, apply makeup, even read the newspaper. As the Tele points out there’s no specific rule for these distractions however as I’ve said previously, the Road Traffic Act states “a driver must not drive unless he has proper control of the vehicle.” Obviously it’s hard to police but it would also help if legislation
was passed specifically detailing what you can and can’t do behind the wheel. Above all else, we should all treat driving as a full time occupation, not a casual endeavor. I’m David Berthon
