The biggest fish farm trial in New South Wales has begun its first harvest.

Huon’s Port Stephens Yellowtail Kingfish pens are producing fish weighing in at about five kilograms.

It hasn’t been a completely smooth process, after a storm damaged one of the pens in January, with about 15,000 fish escaping into the wild.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield caught up with Huon Aquaculture Marine Operations General Manager David Morehead.
