All 199 passengers and 12 crew are safe and accounted for after a man disrupted a flight from Sydney to Malaysia, forcing it to turn back.

The 45-year-old man was wearing a backpack and threatening both passengers and crew of flight MH122.

He has since been arrested and is expected to be charged.

The incident has caused at over 30 flight cancellations and more delays.
