Shadow Minister Dan Tehan flags plan to cut migration

Clinton Maynard

Mike speaks with Dan Tehan, Liberal member for Wannon / Shadow Minister for Immigration, to discuss the Liberal Party planning to reduce Australia’s immigration intake and cut the number of foreign students as part of their pre-election strategy.

Opposition immigration spokesman Dan Tehan criticises the “big Australia” policy and argues that the current immigration levels are too high. The Liberal’s proposal aims to bring immigration back to what Tehan considers sustainable levels.

The government had previously increased the permanent migration cap in response to workforce shortages. However, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton emphasises the need for a sustainable plan, especially concerning service delivery and housing.
