‘Pretty privilege’ disappeared for women during Covid
Research dating back decades finds that physically attractive people consistently receive preferential treatment, across a wide range of contexts, from preschool to the job market.
This is sometimes referred to as the ‘beauty premium.’
Bill Woods is joined by Dr Donna Henson, Associate Professor of Communication at Bond University, about a weird phenomenon that occurred during the pandemic that saw the preferential treatment beautiful women usually received being turned on its head – though it wasn’t the same for attractive men.
