Master Plumbers Association NSW addresses power outage crisis

Clinton Maynard

In the wake of last night’s extensive power outage that left approximately 30,000 households in metropolitan Sydney without electricity, Luke speaks with Nathaniel Smith, Chief Executive Officer Master Plumbers Association NSW, who emphasises the crucial need for diversifying energy sources to ensure the resilience of households during such incidents.

Mr Smith says, ”The outage underscored the vulnerability of our energy network, particularly during times of strain and increased demand.  It left thousands of residents without access to essential services, such as heating, and cooking appliances. As a solution to such predicaments, the Association advocates for the adoption of alternative energy sources, such as gas, that can provide a reliable energy supply even during blackouts.”

He also said “While renewable energy sources are important for a sustainable future, it is imperative that we strike a balance by incorporating energy options that offer consistent performance during emergencies. Gas, in particular, emerges as a viable choice due to its ability to provide essential services irrespective of power disruptions.”
