Endometriosis and Adenomyosis
As we come to the end of March we also come to the end of Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus.
Endometriosis affects more than 11% of Australian women at some point in their life. As April starts so does Adenomyosis Awareness Month.
Adenomyosis is often thought to be similar to Endometriosis. Adenomyosis occurs when the cells that normally line the uterus also grow in the layer of muscle in the wall of the uterus.
This affects approximately 1 in 10 Australian women of reproductive age. Sydney Adventist Hospital Obstetrician & Gynaecologist Dr Bevan Brown joins John Stanley to discuss these somewhat common conditions.
