There are concerns a parrot specie is in danger of extinction.

New data from the Australian National University found the swift parrot is critically endangered with only a few hundred estimated to remain in the wild.

According to researchers the decline is largely due to logging of heir Tasmanian breeding habitat.

Rural reporter Georgia Kondek spoke with Doctor Dejan Stojanovic about the urgency needed to protect the remainder of the forest.
