Animal welfare groups disappointed with live-sheep exports review
A review into the live sheep trade has been released.
It’s prompting reforms surrounding sheep-welfare, on voyages to the middle east during the northern Summer.
It has also seen the live export industry decide to develop new standards, and a new code of conduct.
But animal welfare groups are adamant sheep cannot be treated well on these trips, during the hottest months from May to October.
I spoke with Animals Australia Chief Executive Glenys Oogjes about the review, and what she thinks needs to happen now.
