PNG Rugby League captain David Mead is has called time on his career after Saturday night’s win over Fiji at Campbelltown stadium.

Cementing his position as PNG rugby royalty, Mead rounded out his career with a try and 139 metres.

“I’ve always been grateful for that opportunity that Papua New Guinea gave me … if I didn’t get given that opportunity at that young age, I don’t know if would have had the NRL career I had,” he told Bill Woods.

“14 years has gone really quick and there’s been some great memories,” he said.
