Veteran surf lifesaver David Winner, 71, is determined to teach one million Australians CPR.

The Illawarra local opened up about his own near-death experience whilst going out for a surf, and how he was rescued by locals who performed CPR for 15min.

He emphasised the importance of practising CPR and fostering confidence in people’s ability to perform it.

“Knowledge is power and if you can help save someone’s life, whether it be a stranger or a loved one, then … it’s a simple skill to learn”, Winner told Deborah Knight.
