Shadow defence minister Andrew Hastie says a nuclear war cannot be ruled out.

President Vladimir Putin has indicated Russia would use any weapons to defend its territory.

As a result, the United States has warned Russia of “catastrophic consequences” if it uses nuclear weapons in its war on Ukraine.

Mr Hastie told Chris Smith he welcomes the comments.

“We need peace through strength and that’s how you do it.”
