NSW Police force ‘keep up with the times’ through mandatory COVID vaccination

From the end of the month, all NSW Police employees will be required to show evidence they’ve had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
All staff, unless medically exempt, will need to be single-dose vaccinated by September 30, and double-dose vaccinated by November 30.
Deputy Commissioner Karen Webb confirmed to Jim Wilson mandatory vaccination is nothing new for police.
“In fact when I joined the police, we all lined up at the police academy to get the Hep[patitis] B [vaccine], and now it’s a pre-employment requirement.
“We’ve really just got to keep up with the times.”
In a recent incident, she said, a COVID-positive person in breach of isolation passed on their virus to police.
“Police attended the address and the person of interest became aggressive and slapped the officer.
“The next day that officer became positive … thankfully that officer was fully vaccinated.”
