NSW plan to put open spaces within walking distance
The Planning Minister aims to make open spaces available within walking distance to Sydneysiders.
NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes will make the plan a priority when parliament resumes.
He says more than 40 per cent of urban areas are taken up by roads and pavement.
Mr Stokes tells Natalie Peters and Erin Molan he will aim to create corridors in urban areas to link people to parks.
“Walking distance will mean different things in different areas.
“We’re now reaching the limits of how far Sydney can physically grow so we’ve got to be much more thoughtful about the land that we do have.”
