NSW Health Minister not ‘comfortable’ with population 95 per cent vaccinated

The NSW Health Minister has admitted he still won’t be ‘comfortable’ when 95 percent of the population is vaccinated against COVID-19.

People refusing the injection will have to wait until the overall rate reaches that 95 percent threshold, or the 15th of December, to be given the same freedoms as others.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard told Jim Wilson he’s confident NSW has “struck the balance all the way” through its COVID response.

He was hopeful that when unvaccinated people are moving freely, the state will only see “a slight increase” in cases.

“Do I feel comfortable about the fact that may still have about five per cent of the population not vaccinated?

“No, I don’t really feel comfortable about that, but we live in the real world and we have to make sure that our community are treated as fairly and reasonably as we can.”
