NSW Health Minister calls out ‘irony’ of vaccine rejection amid roadmap backlash

The NSW government’s announcement of freedoms for the unvaccinated from December is under fire.

Jim Wilson confronted Health Minister Brad Hazzard over the decision to announce the freedoms so early, which he argued has disincentived vaccine uptake to the extent some first-dose recipients are rejecting a second jab.

The  Minister defended the announcement on the basis of being “completely upfront” with the NSW population.

“It’s pretty clear that a lot of private enterprise … are saying ‘no, you won’t be coming in’.

“I do find it a little ironic that people are jumping up and down saying ‘I’m not going to get vaccinated because 1st of December is [two] months away’.

“You get primarily vaccinated to save yourself, to save your family.

“I think it’s about time we all just took a little bit of individual responsibility.”
