NSW Commissioner for Resilience Shane Fitzsimmons has defended criticism of not being proactive enough in getting financial assistance to people affected by recent devastations.

Mr Fitzsimmons told Jim Wilson the scale and magnitude of destruction due to the floods is something that hasn’t been seen before.

“There has never been the level of cooperation and coordination between the commonwealth, the state and local governments.

“Recovery damage is a very individual and personal experience for all involved.

“We’ve got to make sure we have the nuisance and flexibility to get to the people that need it most”

Financial packages are on their way and will ‘unfold over the coming days and weeks” he said.
