The 20-year-old car crash victim from NSW abandoned by a Queensland hospital has spoken out about the impact of the ordeal on her psychological recovery.

An investigation has been launched since Phoebe Kirk’s case was brought to public attention on 2GB Breakfast.

Phoebe is now well enough to speak with Ben Fordham, updating listeners on her long recovery process.

Sharing her own account of the incident, she told Ben she was aware she was being discharged too early from Gold Coast Hospital.

“My body was saying ‘you can’t, you’re not well’.”

Phoebe was “beyond mortified” when she was dropped off by taxi at a 7-Eleven by the border and told to walk to NSW, and the whole incident has set back her psychological recovery.

“I had a panic attack, I basically dropped to my mum and my partner’s feet when I met them.

“You cannot even put into words how it makes you feel.”
