New South Wales Assistant Coach Danny Buderus is confident enforcer Payne Haas will overcome an ankle injury to be fit for the State of Origin opener in Adelaide on Wednesday.

It comes as Haas sent a scare through Blues camp after rolling his ankle at training on Friday.

Buderus told The Continuous Call Team the superstar prop has been battling ankle injury, but is expected to train on Sunday.

“Should be all okay,” Buderus said.

“(He) should be fine, working overtime over the weekend to get the swelling down and good to go hopefully for training tomorrow.”

Buderus who played was also inducted into the NSW Rugby League Hall of Fame earlier this week.
