The sale of petrol and diesel cars would be banned in just five years’ time under a “radical” plan to meet climate targets.

The Committee for Sydney says the ban has to happen to meet climate targets and today the organisation made up of business leaders and infrastructure experts will release a report outlining the plan.

“Now again it all sounds wonderful in theory but come on, these people need to get a grip on reality,” Jim said.

“This committee for Sydney I’m sorry are not representative of the views of the vast majority of motorists.

“How much will a ute cost a tradie? And SUVs? Will they be able to cope in all conditions including off-road?”

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan told Jim Wilson the plan shows how “out of touch” the committee is.

“I’m worried if Anthony Albanese goes down this path a lot of people will be hurt.”
