Nationals Senator John Williams vows to stand by Barnaby Joyce

Nationals Senator John Williams says he’s standing by Barnaby Joyce and he hasn’t received calls about a leadership challenge.

In more bad news for the Deputy Prime Minister this afternoon, leader of the WA Nationals Mia Davies said Mr Joyce doesn’t have the support of the state branch.

Mr Williams tells Ben Fordham he’s disappointed in Ms Davies’ statement.

“I’m disappointed.

“Barnaby is going through a very rough time. He’s said he’s sorry. I judge Barnaby on what he does as the politician.

“He’s done an excellent job for regional Australia, that’s why I support him.

“One thing you can’t do is turn the clock back. I’m sure if you could, he would have done things different. I’m sure of that. He’s apologised to many, many people.”
