Mandatory blood tests for police attackers under new proposal
Labor will push for mandatory blood testing for those who assault police and frontline workers.
Anyone who scratches or bites an officer or health care worker will undergo an immediate blood test.
Currently, an officer has to wait six months to know if they have contracted a disease.
NSW Opposition Leader Jodi McKay tells Ray Hadley they will debate the issue in parliament next year.
“They’re just doing their job and they shouldn’t be put in this situation.
“We’re willing to work with the government on this.”
Ray says he backs the proposal.
“I for the life of me can’t understand why the government, successive governments, haven’t acted.”
