A red light speed camera will be installed on a major Sydney road amid thousands of near-misses.

Residents have been calling on the state government to introduce a red light camera in the area between Henry Lawson Drive and Pozieres Avenue in Milperra.

Shortly after footage of dangerous near-misses was shared with Ben Fordham yesterday, the Roads Minister confirmed a camera will be installed “as a matter of priority”. (See full statement below)

Ben surprised local resident Paul with the news live on-air.

Full statement from Roads Minister Natalie Ward:

“I am advised that Transport for NSW has carried out a further assessment of red light running at this location and we will be installing a red light speed camera there as a matter of priority.

“Additionally, Transport for NSW is also liaising with the NSW Police Force requesting that the Highway Patrol provide additional enforcement at this intersection to ensure that all road users are obeying the NSW road rules.”
