A Leichhardt business owner is disputing the Inner West Council Mayor’s claims parking isn’t contributing to the suburb’s ghost town status.

The once famed Norton Street in Leichhardt is filled with empty shopfronts while an apartment on William Street has been left derelict for over two years.

Inner West Council Mayor Darcy Byrne had disputed claims timed parking is contributing to the demise of businesses in the area.

Leichhardt Annandale Business Chamber Secretary Jen O’Brien told Deborah Knight it is in fact a problem.

“30 minutes free parking for my business is useless.”
