Josh Frydenberg has shouted everyone a beer at his local bowls club to honour a promise he made before the election.

The Treasurer visited Auburn Bowls Club in his Melbourne seat of Kooyong last Thursday, promising he’d buy everyone a beer if he was re-elected.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison then defied the opinion polls and the political activists to earn the Coalition a third-term in government.

Mr Frydenberg tells Ben Fordham he went back to the bowls club yesterday to honour his word and pour some beers.

“The president of the club was very kind to say ‘well, that’s one politician who keeps his promises!’”

But when Ben Fordham inquired about the bar tab, the Treasurer refused to spill the beans.

“We’ll keep that between me and the bartender!”
