Former prime minister John Howard is urging the federal government to move on from the Scott Morrison job saga.

The former prime minister secretly took joint control of five cabinet roles during the pandemic: treasury, health, finance, home affairs and resources.

Anthony Albanese is vowing to take action to prevent this conduct in the future.

But Mr Howard told Ben Fordham there are bigger issues facing Australians.

“I suggest, with great respect of course, to the current prime minister that he got back to governing the country and not talk about pursuing Scott Morrison over this.

“I’d say to the Prime Minister, ‘just forget about the past and focus on the present’.”
