A barrier attendant says he didn’t hesitate before pulling a jockey out from beneath his horse, just hours before he won The Everest race.

Glen Boss won the $14 million event on Yes Yes Yes but hours before he had found himself wedged beneath The Drake in the confined space of a metal barrier stall.

Barrier attendant Richard Hyland rushed in and pulled him out from beneath the nearly 600kg horse.

The 26-year-old tells Steve Price he acted on instinct.

“I stood back for half a second and just lunged in, grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and dragged him out.

“Our job is to look after these guys, these are athletes.”
