Two bodies have been found in a stormwater drain in Townsville, following record flooding in the northern Queensland city.

The bodies are believed to be of two men who went missing Monday morning.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison visited flood-ravaged communities earlier in the day and tells Ben Fordham many people are helping the region deal with the disaster.

“There’s almost 6000 Defence Force personnel up there and there own homes were being inundated where they live with their families.

“They were out helping others, pulling them off roofs, getting them into tinnies, getting them evacuated, it’s amazing, mate.

“I know that we had two deaths confirmed this afternoon but the scale of the evacuations that took place, it was an extraordinary achievement.”
