Inner West moves to fortnightly red bin collections

Article image for Inner West moves to fortnightly red bin collections

The Inner West Council has rolled out a change in garbage collection, shifting red bin collections to once every two weeks.

Darcy Byrne, Mayor of the Inner West Council, defended the move, stating, “We’re introducing a new service, a food recycling service, in which people will be able to put all of their organic waste, all of their food scraps and leftovers into the green bin which will be collected weekly.”

He acknowledged the challenge of disposing of items like nappies and mentioned potential collection sites in neighbourhoods for such waste.
